Dr. Soleimanpour’s Speech at Asian Security Conference in New Delhi

The 15th Asian Security Conference under "Emerging Trends in West Asia: Regional and Global Implications" was held on 13-15 February 2013 in which Dr. Soleimanpour representing the Islamic Republic of Iran. A group of prominent political and scholars figures namely Indian Defense Minister attended this conference New Delhi.
In an address to this conference, hosted by the Institute for Defense Studies and Analyses, Dr. Soleimanpour pointed out the fact that global politics is in a fateful transition and stated that the new emerging international system will be accompanied by redefinition of the concepts, meaning and discourses, diversification of international actors and the emergence of new powers and a revival of idealistic elements.
The head of the Center for International Research and Education stressed that the current international system is shifting towards a new version where there will be non-western regions and areas playing integral roles. He mentioned that in this regards the focus of this strategic shift is on Asia in way that we hear talks of Asian Century.
Considering the challenges facing Asia and particularly West Asia, he mentioned that in this period of transition the region is in need of a practical framework for "inter-regional security" focusing on non-hard aspects of security such as Identity.
The head of the Center for International Research and Education pointed to some of the afflicted areas and also to some issues that permeate the West Asia and also to Irans outstanding achievements after the Islamic Revolution and deemed the regional cooperation as the viable solution to sustainable security.
