Meeting of Dr. Soleimanpour with Norwegian Think Tank

On 14th April 2014(25th of Farvardin 1393), Dr. Soleimanpour, the head of the CIRE had a meeting with Norwegian delegation in his office. The Norwegian delegation was comprised of Dr. Kristan Derg Harpviken , the head o the PRIO institute and Aud Lise Norheim, director general of UN department of the Norwegian foreign Ministry. The Norwegian experience on peace and reconciliation activities throughout some international and regional conflicts, led Dr. Soleimanpour to express his ideas of opportunity provided for the PRIO in reactivating their efforts through exchange of views with Iranian counterparts. He said the Palestinian case should not be forgotten as the Islamic Awakening created a new geo/political competition. To prevent competitions among the regional countries particularly with regards to Saudi Arabia and Turkey, international think tanks have a duty to get more involved into interactions resolving the causes which might escalate the existing tensions throughout the region.
In this meeting, the members of Norwegian delegation expressed their willingness to provide utmost cooperation with Iranian counterparts in resolving regional differences ,providing their own experience in regards to the political tensions in Colombia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Guatemala and some European issues. As Rev. Tron Bakkegig , a pastor from (Lutheran) Church of Norway was also present in the meeting; they talked about Eastern as well as Western values and how to initiate and build on common values aiming global cooperation. The Norwegian delegation in the same day had a round table with IPIS and also planned to visit both Qom and Esfahan.
